I read that 90% of women get stretch marks during pregnancy. Surprisingly, I haven't gotten any. (Thank you!).
However, I DO use belly balms, butters, oils, and lotions throughout pregnancy to keep my skin elastic (also proper hydration from the inside out helps too!).
Now, many articles I read say that stretch marks are more hereditary than anything else, but the need for skin to grow rapidly during pregnancy can exacerbate the situation, I am sure. I'm no doctor, so I don't know. All I know is it MUST be good to have moisturized skin, right?
Plus, I do get that dry, itchy skin just from my body having to go through so many changes and use up so much of my water intake, so I find keeping a good moisturizer on hand and using daily is such a relief.
NUBY has a line of Natural Touch products that includes a Belly Butter for pregnant mamas. Made with collagen and elastic, their Belly Butter comes in Cocoa Butter, Brazil Nut, and Vitamin E with Shea Butter formulas.
I've tried the Cocoa Butter formula one, which has that distinctive chocolate scent. It comes hard packed in a tub, and you have to kind of rub your fingers firmly to get some of the butter up to rub onto your skin. It feels a little greasy at first (well, it's not called "butter" for nothing!), but then absorbs quickly into your skin so the end result is a soft, smooth feeling!
You can find NUBY Belly Butter at Babies 'R Us for $7.99.
I'll be sharing more about NUBY's Natural Touch line of products in the coming weeks!
How do you keep dry skin and stretch marks at bay during pregnancy!?
