Growing Bigger and Better Plants with Miracle-Gro Expand 'n Gro

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts®. All opinions are 100% mine.

We love to garden at our house – even in winter, we have pots of African Violets, Christmas Cactus, and other indoor plants around the house. In summer we have flower beds, vegetable gardens, and berry bushes.

However, because we live in suburbia, our dirt isn’t always that great, even though we add manure and sand to help the clay soil. Sometimes our plants need a little help and nourishment. We have often used Miracle-Gro products to boost our plants!

Miracle-Gro Expand ‘n Gro™ Concentrated Planting Mix is another way to start your plants out right. Not only does it help you grow up to 3x the flowers and vegetables as native soil, but by adding the mix to your beds, you’ll actually be improving your land for years to come.

Some cool facts about this planting mix – it’s made from plant food and coconut coir fiber which makes it light and easy to carry (no more lugging big heavy bags of soil!). The coconut fibers were previously waste, but now they’re being used resourcefully for gardening!

The concentrated mix expands up to 3x once you add water, and it feeds your plants for up to 6 months. One more benefit – the natural fibers in the planting mix actually hold up to 50% more water than basic potting soil, so when you water your plants, they’ll retain that moisture longer. And because of the absorbent fibers, the soil will actually have better drainage which is also important to rooting growth for plants.

We are getting a sample of this mix, and I plan to use it in some drier places in our gardens, this way I can take advantage of the water retention properties. This way we’re not having to water EVERY day! (Also great if you’re having a dry spell/water shortage).

We also do a lot of container / potted gardening, so it’s really important to have good soil in your pots – I’ll probably use some of this Miracle-Gro planting mix in our pots too! I can’t wait to see our plants grow lush and vibrant with the help of this mix!
