Why We Raise Children

...instead of leaving them to their own devices:
To nourish children and raise them against odds is any time, any place, more valuable than to fix bolts in cars or design nuclear weapons.
~Marilyn French
We call it "raising" children - not letting them go to seed. It's like a garden, which you have to plan, prep, care for, feed, tend, weed out the bad and encourage the good. If our world could just get the business of raising children correct, perhaps there would be no need to design nuclear weapons.
